This absolutely fantastic brutalist ring is everything I look for in a statement piece! Something different & eye catching and with her phenomenal central tourmaline at aprox 8.67cts she does just that! This greeny blue beauty is held securly in those long claws emanating from the outer shoulder edges. The shoulders are three-fold held with a central pin support that has been meticulously designed and handcrafted in 14ct white gold. Hallmarked 14k 585.
This style was popular in the late 1970s after the design movement influenced by architecture in the 1950s, we saw a movement toward raw materials, texture and bold structures. We saw this design in jewellery spearheaded by the likes of Andrew Grima and his masterful works (see last pictures). Tourmalines were particularly favored due to their long lines and structure in raw form.
This piece just stands out and is so unique and special! Wear to gold and tourmaline inline with age.
Its unusual design means it has a wider feel around the finger. It's surprisingly comfortable though but hard to confirm exact size. It fits both of my fingers sized P and P.5 but It cannot be easily resized
