Breathtaking in her sheer size and this intense blue colour that aquamarine is prized for, this special heirloom is a piece you will never want to part with.
Due to the emergence of WWII, platinum, which was popular in the Art deco era, was considered a strategic mineral vital to the war efforts, which caused many countries to restrict and even prohibit its use. So we saw jewellers move away from white gold and platinum toward both yellow and rose gold, with both becoming the metal of choice for the 1940s. Large gemstones, which were more available and were used for impact, and this 7.2 carats aquamarine is a perfect example. Simple styles were more commonly used to due to the war era gold shortages but this is anything but simple. Flowing designs and streamlined automobiles were the inspiration for retro jewellery and this piece is a wonderful example with carfully designed bands of rose gold wrapping around the centre of yellow gold. To the left and right, old cut diamond-set shoulders lead to the center stone, a large aquamarine thats is like the vast Mediterranean sea! Amazing condition for its age and handmade work of art from a master jeweller.
