Our Story

Hi, I am Sarah the owner of The Secret Compartment and I adore antique and vintage jewellery but I especially love rings!

Since I can remember I have had a fascination with all things old. At age 12 I would dig for old bottles buried near my pops house on school holidays. I considered myself a young Indiana Jones or “Jane” as it were. It was the excitement of uncovering these lost treasures and learning about them that brought me such joy. It's safe to say I was hooked on the thrill of the treasure hunt from then on!

I soon began to spend time at antique fairs with my mum as she shared her love of all old furniture, art and tablewares but I knew from an early age that jewellery was my true passion! I spent many years uncovering special treasures and their secret pasts and it was this experience that developed my keen eye for quality jewellery. My only wish was that there were more stores to purchase from in my home town the Gold Coast QLD.

So in 2018 I decided to share my passion for old rings with others so that anyone could have access to these unique rings without leaving their couch! My hope was that they could once again be loved and cherish and that their stories would become apart of yours, so The Secret compartment was born.

I have created a store where you can purchase a piece of history that was made to last a lifetime (or three). To purchase rings that took decades to master to skill needed to create them.  I especially love that when you purchase these antique and vintage rings you are making a choice to be sustainable and care for our planet.

Every ring you see has been hand selected by me for their unique qualities and beauty. The age of the rings I share range from antique, retro and vintage. I have collected some truly beautiful pieces to share with you so I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!
