What is this worn abraded gemstone you ask???
Well thats the most interesting thing about her, without this worn face she wouldn't be considered special! Sometimes its our life experiences, age and journeys that prove to be our true worth!
This sweet vibrant beauty is sea glass! Sea glass is weathered glass found on beaches along bodies of salt water. Often collected as a hobby and used for jewellery sea glass can come in so many colours and takes 20 to as much as 200 years to acquire its texture and shape.
The colour of sea glass is determine by its original source, usually old bottles. There are some common colours including green, white, blue and amber. However there are some extremely rare colours include grey, pink, teal black, yellow and you guessed it... red.
Red glass often came from old Schlitz bottles, car tail lights or nautical lights. Red glass is found once in about every 5,000 pieces. So you can see why someone had this rare piece set in rich 18ct gold. The setting holds this little piece of history perfectly and is also decorated with a barley twist embellishment.
