This sapphire holds history, it was brought back to Australia in 1945 by an avid gemologist and miner after his trip to Ceylon as a young man. They were hand minded and precious keepsake that would lead this young man to become an Australian sapphire miner in Qld. So this gemstone hold so much history and life within. I had the fortune to acquire his collection over 8yrs ago and the privilege to set this gem in vintage gold to let them be enjoyed. I love knowing part of this gems history and I feel this setting, which was handmade in Australia, is the perfect piece to help it be cherished. The setting is a lovely artful piece of design with its heavy hand carved basket, it's swirling almost bypass shanks and that bead of gold adds such balance to the pieces.
