The handmade setting c1910 with her elegant double claws is a beautiful warm offset for this elongated mossy green cabochon! This is Nephrite jade (scientific name) which distinguishes it from other green stones like Jadeite and Jade. This is also known as Greenstone/ pounamu and has cultural significance in Maori culture and was popular in early Australian jewellery. This antique example in the navette style was popular in the c1910. Nephrite Jade is found in South Australia and NSW. The curved band and setting means she sits so perfectly on the finger and her lower profile add to her level of comfort! Lovely condition with light wear to jade and gold.
