This buff cut blue spinel came along with me yesterday for my presentation on World Hallmarks. I talked about how to identify hallmarks on English, French, Russian, Polish, Italian and Early Australian pieces. This one was an example of a Polish pieces and one of the characteristics to identify them is that their hallamrks like Russian pieces of this mid century period are often on the outside of the band. This pieces is made of rich rosey 14ct gold with hallmarks of the helmeted Polish knights head / W / 3. These inclusive hallamarks tell us it is Gold 14ct made in Warsaw 1963-1986 . The luminous synthetic spinel looks so beautiful against the warm rosey gold. I particularly love the floral details in each shoulder panel and the geometric angles of the ring itsself. Slight wear to spinel but good condition.
